AGRA STRAK PROJECT

AGRA STRAK PROJECT is a programme focused on empowering smallholder farmers in Kenya with regenerative agriculture knowledge through a mobile-first learning platform. It emphasizes on key areas such as soil health, composting, agroforestry, and the training of Village-Based Advisors (VBAs). Implemented in the counties of Makueni, Kitui, Embu, and Tharaka -Nithi, the initiative is made possible through a strategic partnership with AGRA.
SkiQa Group Ltd
SkiQa Group is a Pan-African project management agency with over 15 years of experience designing and delivering digital communication, learning, and extension materials. In AGRA STRAK project, SkiQa is leading the digitization, dissemination, and stakeholder engagement of regenerative agriculture content using its proprietary platform, Ariqa farm. The company collaborates with AGRA, county governments, CGA, and Farm Africa to empower farmers with accessible, interactive, and localized learning experiences.

SkiQa's responsibilities within the STRAK project initiative are multi-layered. The firm has began by conducting a thorough review of STRAK project reports and materials from partners such as CGA, ICRAF, Kaizen, and Farm Africa. Following a content gap analysis, SkiQa has digitized a wide range of regenerative agriculture content including videos, manuals, case studies, and infographics for use on Ariqa farm and social media platforms. The firm has also facilitated stakeholder engagement, host webinars, lead capacity-building sessions, and implement real-time tracking tools to evaluate impact.

Cereal Growers Association (CGA)
The Cereal Growers Association (CGA) is a national member-based organization in Kenya that represents and supports smallholder and large-scale cereal farmers across the country. CGA works to improve agricultural productivity, enhance market access, and advocate for farmer-friendly policies through partnerships, capacity building, and knowledge dissemination. With a strong presence in rural communities, CGA plays a key role in promoting regenerative agriculture practices, supporting extension services, and strengthening value chains by collaborating with development partners, county governments, and farmer organizations. Through its grassroots networks, CGA facilitates the adoption of sustainable farming methods that enhance resilience, food security, and income for Kenyan cereal farmers.

Farm Africa
Farm Africa is an international non-governmental organization dedicated to reducing poverty by helping farmers and rural communities in eastern Africa grow more, sell more, and sustain natural resources. Operating in Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Uganda, Farm Africa combines expertise in agriculture, market development, and natural resource management to deliver innovative, practical solutions that boost productivity and build resilience among smallholder farmers. In Kenya, Farm Africa has been instrumental in promoting regenerative agriculture practices, supporting value chain development, and working closely with local governments, private sector actors, and farming communities to scale up sustainable agricultural innovations and improve livelihoods.

Project Target Audience
The AGRA STRAK project targets a wide spectrum of stakeholders, including smallholder farmers particularly women and youth who are at the frontline of agriculture in Kenya. It also focuses on Village-Based Advisors (VBAs), county extension officers, development practitioners, policymakers, and the private sector, all of whom play key roles in scaling regenerative agriculture technologies.
Project Theory of Change
If smallholder farmers and agricultural extension systems are equipped with accessible, localized digital content on regenerative agriculture, then the adoption of sustainable practices will increase, leading to improved soil health, farm productivity, and climate resilience.” The project inputs include STRAK partner reports, localized content, and digital learning technologies. The expected outputs are a suite of mobile-optimized e-learning modules, multimedia extension tools, and capacity-building programs. Ultimately, these efforts aim to increase farmer awareness, drive sustainable practice adoption, and improve the resilience of farming systems across the target counties.
